Sound chintzy, motion blurry

After owning a regular (non-HD) 24" CRT television, the sound from this TV was hollow and actually uncomfortable. I adapted to it after 3-4 weeks.
Last night I watched a non-HD broadcast of the movie "I Am Legend", and the action (fight) scenes were so blurry, for I while I thought the movie was made that way intentionally in a sort of fast-action cartoony format, with all the fists and arms flying and after-images trailing everywhere. Then I switched over to an HD channel where the movie was showing, and I discovered that it was in fact normal filming and you could make out the scenes.
On the plus side, when I first got the tv and was disappointed with the sound, I contacted the seller (Beach Camera) and got no response. I contacted Amazon and they jumped right in to arbitrate. Beach Camera contacted me immediately and sent a service rep out to check the tv. The sound couldn't be 'fixed', but I was really really pleased with the responses.
Thank you Amazon.
#One other thing - channel switching is shockingly slow, but I can't figure out if that's the fault of the Samsung alone #is it the way LCDs work?#, or the way the tv is interfacing with my Time Warner cable box.#

This is a great product! 37 inches was perfect for my living room which measures 16 x 10.
Picture clarity in HD is outstanding. Would highly recommend at the pricepoint I paid - $714. |

| Very pleased with it. Great picture and clarity. Sound quailty is good but not great. Buttons on front are touch activated but difficult to see. Excelent for gaming when you get everything set up correctly. |

| I recently purchased this t.v. from the scratch and dent section and when I received the t.v. I couldn't even find the so called scratches and I saved a load of money. I have been using Amazon to shop for years and will continue to do so, especially after this big buy. |
Yep, it's better than Sony Bravia

| For my first LCD TV I debated..Sony, Samsung, Sony, Samsung. I just couldn't decide. Then the Samsung surround system I bought died, customer service was not able to assist and this was the system that replaced my elderly Sony DAV surround that only died when my husband sprayed oil into it to clean it instead of canned air (don't ask). Anyway, I decided that was a sign and went with the Sony Bravia. It's a good tv but is horrible outside of HD programming. It's worse than my old Sony Wega that it replaced. I did hear often that Samsung holds well when not in HD and I have to say when I put up this TV in my playroom the critics were right. Such an improvement over the Bravia for non-HD programming. It's stunning in HD when paired with my blu ray player or HD TV stations but it is still remarkable when playing Wii or watching netflix on Roku. Two things that were less than stellar on the Bravia. Sound is good for this set but it is in a very small room so a band with two tin cans and kazoo would sound pleasurable. Overall, I'm happy with my choice and glad I have both to compare. I will say the power plug on this set is just as horribly short as Bravia's. This makes mounting difficult. Anyway, now I will sit back and wait and see if it will die within a year like my last Samsung product...but that is another review for another time. |
